I left sycamore that night feeling like a low-life. A pill popper. All because my wisdom tooth was aching down into my jaw and up into my ear and I dared to ask for relief.. yep that labels me a suspicious patient. Lol this drug thing has to be approached in a different way. If someone has a record of coming in every month or couple months saying they are in pain here or there.. then yes that is suspicious. But if someone comes in once every 2 years saying something is hurting and that they have a doctor/Denist appt already scheduled but that they need pain relief until appt day.. compassion should be shown. That's all I'm going to say.
Nurses in the intensive care unit are excellent! Sincere and care and concern not just for patient but family members as well.
The doctor (wasn't a real DR btw).. prescribed muscle relaxers. Lol... For a wisdom tooth going bad... Muscle relaxers. She also said it was infected. No it wasn't. I went to my Denist 5 days later.. no infection and hmm.. yes .. they should have been willing to offer you some pain relief.. even just 1 dose while you were there. They gave me nothing for pain.
The whole drug epidemic is really hurting the people who truly need relief. I went in for a very bad cavity in my wisdom tooth. I had an appointment for my Denist 5 days later. The doctor was friendly enough but turned a little cold when I said I need something for pain. I had to work the next few days and talking is part of my job. She said they don't prescibe pain meds for a tooth ache. Not true. 2 years ago Atrium hospital gave me a small prescription when my other wisdom tooth was going bad.. then promptly removed.

I was there for a severe kidney infection and UTI I was very I'll when I arrived and could have does but the staff of doctors and nurses were amazing and treated me wonderful with the best care and compassion like I've never had. We often went to the Atrium in Middletown Ohio but this hospital and it's care surpassed them by a land slide! I and my family were week pleased with my care and comfort that this hospital ensured me and gave me on my path to healing! I say thank you Sycamore hospital you saved my life!
Here's the thing: I get it. People come in begging for pain medicine. Drug addicts resort to the ER for a quick fix. But that does not mean every person who comes in saying they are hurting is lying or just wanting a fix. Sometimes a person really is not feeling well and trying to live a normal life around whatever pain they have. It does NOT make them weak.. liars.. drug addicts. They could easily view my records. That I haven't been there in years. Not frequently seeking out pain relief at hospitals lol
I have been to Sycamore Medical Center on several occasions for different issues. I have been twice to the emergency room where there was no wait and I received excellent and attentive care. Other visits have been for imaging. All of my experiences have been positive and have required very little wait.
